How To Pause & Play

When I first decided to start The Self-Care Writer, my intention was to create a space for people to pause, reflect, and leave feeling renewed. However, as time went on, I decided to add another element to it: play.

I believe in the power of pausing. Whether that’s through meditating, journaling, or breathwork. Those practices have been proven to help others reconnect with themselves, remembering who they are and appreciating their journey. But play is a little different. Play allows you to be creative, have fun, and get in touch with your inner child.

Both are important elements to a person’s wellbeing as they each are invitations to unwind. Knowing this, I decided to add more play into my events. I started Sip & Journal, which is an event where guests partake in junk journaling, sip cocktails or mocktails, and let their creativity take over.

We encourage guests to let their hair down, share laughs with other guests, and just be.

The same goes for vision board parties. While guests are setting goals for the new year, they are also using their imagination to creative something meaningful.

As I continued planning these events, I discovered that both pause and play can come together to produce a beautiful synergy.

Here is a list of other ways you can integrate pause and play into your life:

-Junk journaling at home or with friends

-Going for a walk and ending it at your favorite brunch spot

-Joining a book club

-Taking a Zumba class

-Taking a pottery class

If you want to pause and play with us, then join our upcoming Vision Board Party on January 25 and Sip & Journal: Galentine’s Day Edition on February 14.
